The right packing method can mean the difference between plugging in a perfectly working TV and discovering an expensive crack hidden beneath the wrapping. I’ve learned that protecting electronics isn’t about using the most packing material. It’s about using the right materials in the right places.
Whenever possible, I use the original manufacturer boxes because they’re designed specifically for each device. If those boxes are long gone, I choose sturdy, appropriately sized moving boxes with plenty of cushioning. Bubble wrap, foam inserts, packing paper, and soft moving blankets all help absorb vibrations without placing unnecessary pressure on delicate screens or components.
I pay extra attention to televisions, computer monitors, laptops, gaming consoles, speakers, desktop computers, and smart home devices. Screens are always wrapped separately, ports are protected from impact, and empty spaces inside each box are filled so nothing shifts during transportation. I also keep electronics upright whenever recommended and never stack heavy boxes on top of fragile equipment. A few pounds of extra weight can quietly cause damage before I even reach my new home.
Temperature and moisture are just as important as physical protection. I avoid leaving electronics inside hot vehicles for extended periods, and I make sure they stay dry throughout the move. Heat, humidity, and sudden temperature changes can affect sensitive internal components just as much as an accidental bump.

- Protect screens with soft padding and avoid direct pressure.

- Never place heavy boxes on top of expensive devices.
By taking a little extra time to pack carefully, I know I’m giving my electronics the best chance of arriving safely. It’s a small investment of effort that can prevent costly repairs, replacements, and plenty of unnecessary stress after the move.
